New for August 2019

Forget soaring temperatures, overheated car engines, and beaches crowded with sun worshippers to ponder a soul-restoring pair of images this month from the Sacred Art Pilgrim Collection of the newly created World and the Garden of Eden, now on view on the In the Beginning page of the Old Testament Tales gallery of the Bible Stories & Parables section. Peruvian Textile Artist Eleodora Salvatierra presents a beatific vision of kangaroos, zebras, jaguars, elephants, and flamingo living together in an unspoiled tropical paradise without a human in sight in her embroidered cloth panel depiction of the Garden of Eden. Much of the same menagerie appears framed by bending orchids in a beautifully handcolored etching (left) of the Creation of the World by Indiana Artist Shirley M. Hiner with an added strip of blue teeming with sea life. For a look at Eden after the Fall read a meditation on British-Norwegian Artist Magnus Gjoen's new media giclee print, Break Glass for a New Beginning, in the Art Reflections gallery of the Moments with Masters section.
