Western Christians celebrated Easter this year on the last day of March. For the month of April, I'm adding three new images of Christ's Post-Resurrection appearances by Cypriot Icon-maker Charalambos Epaminonda to The Resurrection of Christ gallery of The Life of Christ section. The trio of acrylic on wood paintings are part of a multi-year project Epaminonda began in 2016 to create a cycle of contemporary icons on the Life of Christ for the Sacred Art Pilgrim Collection. In one icon, he shows the Risen Christ encountering Mary Magdalene and "the other Mary" coming back from the empty tomb, as recorded in Matthew 28. In a scene from the Easter narrative in John 20, Jesus invites Thomas to touch the wound in his side to assure the doubting discipline of his physical Resurrection. In a third painting (left) based on the Resurrection account in the Gospel of Luke, Jesus reveals himself to two followers, whom he had joined, unrecognized, on the road to Emmaus, in the breaking of the bread at their evening meal.
